The Kunki family, possibly originating from the Wots, who participated in the construction of Bauska Castle, have lived here since mid 15^th century. A legend tells that the cult oak was planted here in the 16^th century and used for celebrating Midsummer’s Eve around it, but today the landlady welcomes admirers of the ancient times and folklore on the second Saturday of September every year.
